Temporary food assistance for eligible low income families and individuals is available from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.



Eligibility is based on the financial situation of all members of a household.


Anyone who lives together and buys and prepares food together is considered a member of the same household group.


In general, they will review your expenses, assets and income to determine which benefits you may be entitled to. Customers are issued a Michigan Bridge Card to purchase certain groceries and access cash benefits at multiple stores and ATMs across the state.

Most states allow online applications for EBT Cards through the application for Food Stamps (SNAP Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) or cash benefits through Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
