Sometimes people feel that they shouldn't need help to get food on the table, but sometimes it is a struggle to make ends meet. If you are not sure how or if you can pay for your next meal or the food for the next week, NJ SNAP can help.



NJ SNAP (formerly Food Stamps) is the food that low-income families need to eat healthy It is a New Jersey supplemental nutrition assistance program that can help you purchase

With the online application, you will spend less time in the office for your interview (if you are unable to reach the County Social Services Council due to illness or disability, you can send an authorized representative on your behalf or request a telephone interview).


The application can also be submitted by fax or post to the local District Social Welfare Office.


After receiving your application, you will be contacted to arrange an interview to confirm the information about your application.


Please also note that households where all members apply for additional security income or those receiving additional social security income (SSI) can apply for NJ SNAP at the Social Security Office at the same time as applying for SSI.


NJ SNAP benefits are issued through the easy-to-use "Families First" electronic benefits card.
